The long-awaited unitary patent (UP) and Unified Patent Court (UPC) system represent the most significant change to the European patent system in decades. The new system is expected to come into effect in the first half of 2023, which means now is the time for patent licensors, licensees, and co-owners to review whether their agreements are UPC-ready.
