Sukanya Majumdar

Sukanya joined Bristows as a trainee solicitor in August 2018. She completed training in September 2020 and is now working in the commercial technology and copyright disputes team.

Sukanya is a litigator and works predominately with clients in the technology, life sciences, and media industries. She advises clients on a range of contentious matters including complex contract and tort disputes such as breach of commercial contracts and misuse of confidential information. Her recent work includes representing a high-profile media organisation in a payment dispute before the Commercial Court.

Sukanya has helped clients with early stage dispute resolution, case preparation, settlement negotiations, and arbitration. In addition to the English High Court, she has also worked opposite His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs before the Tax Tribunal.

During her training contract at Bristows, as well as commercial disputes, Sukanya gained experience in a number of other practice areas at the firm including brands, designs and copyright, patent litigation, commercial IP/IT and data protection. As a trainee, she had been involved in patent and trade mark infringement cases before the IPEC and Patents Court.

Sukanya is a key member of the Bristows’ Inclusion Group and Women’s Network. She has organised and hosted events, both internally and for clients, on diversity, equality, and inclusion topics.
