The Times publishes Mark Watts’ opinion in an article on data law

An article in The Times newspaper, celebrating the third anniversary of the GDPR coming into effect, mentions comments by our data protection expert Mark Watts.

In the article, covering the evolution of data protection regulations and its enforcement in the form of fines, Mark discusses the divergence in the approach taken by different data protection authorities, and mentions “a complete lack of predictable fining methodology or consistency”, which is at odds with the harmonisation that the GDPR was supposed to bring.
