Competition & EU

EU Competition Law FirmOur team is led by 3 specialist partners. Beyond the partners, the team comprises lawyers at all levels of qualification who specialise in EU and in UK competition law.  Members of the team also work alongside partners who focus primarily on other legal disciplines, such as Intellectual Property, but who have significant competition law experience.

The team is particularly recognised for its work on issues arising at the interface between competition law and Intellectual Property. We have played a leading role in many of the UK and EU cases in which this issue has been key, securing excellent results for our clients in high tech sectors such as mobile telephony, life sciences and computing.  We also routinely advise on the competition aspects of licensing and R&D / IP collaborations as well as abuse of dominance issues for IP-rich companies.

The team has considerable experience of advising on competition law and policy issues across all sectors. Our work includes advice on compliance, mergers, state aid and also public procurement law for public bodies and bidders.  We have particular expertise in advising on internet and Digital Single Market related issues including distribution policies and agency arrangements and work regularly with the firm’s market leading data privacy team on competition law issues relating to the acquisition and use of data.

Whatever the sector or context, we seek to offer practical, commercial advice to help our clients achieve their strategic objectives and have been widely praised for our pragmatic and calm approach to dealing with issues which are often legally and factually complex.
