Bristows and Privitar publish in-depth analysis of anonymisation policy in the UK

Anonymisation is one of the most challenging areas of data protection law

15.07.2021

The ICO and European Data Protection Board (EDPB) are both working on updates to their guidance. Using controls to manage risk is central to anonymisation, and relevant for many compliance questions: from legitimate interest processing to international data transfers.

We worked with Privitar to analyse the key legal, technological and business issues relating to anonymisation in the UK. Our joint report helps organisations to decide whether and how to anonymise data, and to prepare for upcoming updates from the ICO and EDPB.

It is essential reading for anyone working with data, especially in-house legal, compliance, risk management and data governance teams. Download it here and get in touch to arrange a workshop on implementing our findings in your organisation.

For more information on the work we do, see our data protection & privacydata breaches & cyber security and IT & digital expertise pages.
