Current awareness – April 2017


The Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2017 will make the following changes, effective from 6 April 2017:
• Maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal: £80,541 (previously £78,692)
• A week’s pay, for statutory redundancy and the basic award for unfair dismissal: £489 (previously £479)
HMRC has published an ‘employment status checker’ to assist with determining IR35 status: see here.
