I was initially drawn to apply to Bristows because of its reputation in the intellectual property sector. I wanted to work for a dynamic, innovative firm that did a wide range of interesting work for high profile, cutting edge clients. Attending the summer workshop gave me a chance to learn more about the different practice areas and kind of work Bristows does, but more importantly it allowed me to experience directly the supportive and collaborative working environment. The application process itself was refreshingly straightforward and stress free compared to the process for other firms. In the interviews it was a pleasant surprise to find that the partners and associates were extremely friendly and interested in finding out what I was like as a person, rather than just asking a list of generic questions.

I also particularly like being part of a smaller intake because it has meant that through studying together we have become a close knit group who meets up regularly outside of work. Bristows is a sociable firm and as future trainees we were invited to a number of firm events before starting, which gave us the opportunity to meet the rest of the firm. This made the first few weeks much easier as it gave us an insight into how welcoming and supportive everyone is. The first few weeks of my training contract have confirmed that I picked the right firm and I look forward to the rest of my training.
