Patrick advises on a range of patent litigation issues covering both the technology and life sciences sectors. Prior to joining Bristows, Patrick completed a masters in aerospace engineering and worked in the aerospace and defence sector. He enjoys being able to bring both his industrial experience and scientific background to a range of complex issues. 

Patrick has worked on a number of patent litigation cases across both the technology and life sciences sectors. Some of Patrick’s work highlights include: 

  • Panasonic v Xiaomi & OPPO – proceedings in the Patents Court regarding 3G and 4G Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) and global FRAND licensing terms. 
  • Celltrion v Genentech & Novartis – litigation in the High Court concerning the patent protection for the formulation of omalizumab (Xolair®). 
  • Scientific Drilling v Gyrodata & Schlumberger – a revocation claim in the Patents Court challenging the patent protection for methods of measuring tortuosity in oil well boreholes. 
  • Orderly Mind Ltd v Queue-it – patent infringement action in the Patents Court relating to online queuing systems.
