Navigating your legal career with mental wellness: How community shapes careers

We’re pleased to be hosting a networking event on Thursday 2 October, designed to create a safe and welcoming space for legal professionals who are building successful careers while prioritising their mental wellbeing.

This year’s event explores the theme of community, and how our upbringings, backgrounds, and support networks shape not only our mental health, but also how we show up and thrive in the workplace. The evening will feature a panel discussion with both internal and external speakers, moderated by Hafsa Babar and Fariha Chowdhury.

We’re excited to be welcoming Afua Kudom to the panel as an external speaker.

Who is this event for?

This event is primarily aimed at trainee solicitors, associates up to 4PQE, apprentices, junior in-house lawyers, and those working towards the Bar. It is an inter-firm event.

During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Reflect on the power of community – Exploring its significance in both personal and professional life and understanding why it plays a vital role in supporting mental health throughout a legal career.
  • Connect with like-minded peers – Meet professionals from across the sector and build meaningful relationships.
  • Be inspired by real stories – Hear from a panel of legal professionals sharing personal perspectives and unique insights into the link between community and mental health, while a live-scribe artist captures the discussion in a creative visual display.
  • Gain insight from experience – Learn what types of support our panellists have leaned on and hear what they might have done differently to safeguard their wellbeing earlier in their careers.
