Senior Associate – Competition and Antitrust
Victoria has over 12 years’ experience advising clients on all aspects of EU and UK competition law and foreign direct investment rules. Victoria has successfully represented market leading clients in sectors as diverse as technology (inc. AI), life sciences, financial services, energy, telecommunications, fast moving consumer goods (inc. brands), construction and real estate.
She has broad experience in advising on transactions including joint ventures and multi-jurisdictional mergers, competition investigations and competition litigation. She has deep experience acting for clients on dawn raids, immunity and leniency applications, cartel investigations, market investigations and abuse of a dominant position. Leveraging her investigations experience, Victoria counsels clients on day-to-day competition law issues in their commercial arrangements.
Some of Victoria’s recent experience includes:
- Acting as co-counsel to Barratt Redrow in relation to the high profile CMA investigation into potential anticompetitive conduct between the UK’s largest housebuilders. The case was closed without a formal finding of infringement decision as a result of the CMA accepting innovative commitments.
- Advising Bestway on its acquisition of the UK pharmacy wholesale and retail business of Lexon, one of the fastest Phase 1 clearance decisions before CMA.
- Providing UK merger control and National Security and Investment Act advice to a radiopharmaceutical company in its acquisition of a UK based medical devices company. The acquired technology involved AI.
- Assisting an animal medicines manufacturer with the CMA’s market investigation into the veterinary sector.
- Advising on LetterOne’s acquisition of Upp. The first National Security and Investment Act case appealed to the UK courts.
- Advising the main complainant in the EC and the CMA’s merger investigations in Nvidia/Arm. The deal was ultimately blocked as a result of the complaints.
- Advising third parties in relation to the Microsoft/Activision CMA merger review.
- Advising Nasdaq on UK merger filing in relation to its public takeover of Cinnober (a Swedish exchange).
- Advising Roper Technologies Inc. in relation to a CMA Phase 2 merger investigation of its sale of Gatan to Thermo Fisher in the electronic microscopes sector.
- Worked with numerous clients on the national security aspects of various deals under the UK National Security and Investments Act.
Prior to joining Bristows, Victoria worked for other leading international law firms in London and Brussels. She also gained valuable insight into the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority from her experience in the Mergers Unit. She is a British national, fluent in Chinese Mandarin and has experience working in, and with clients from, the US, Japan, Korea and China.
