Senior Associate – Commercial & Technology Disputes

Sarah is an experienced litigator with particular expertise in acting on disputes involving difficult points of contractual interpretation in various sectors including technology, telecoms, financial services, insurance, life sciences and retail.

She has significant experience in coordinating and running large teams, meeting client arrangements and dealing with the communication issues that can arise in large, complex matters, such as coordination across multiple jurisdictions. This includes leading and managing key stages of litigation and arbitration including large-scale e-disclosure reviews, witness evidence preparation and technical expert instruction and management.

Sarah is also certified and experienced in change management in the context of dispute resolution to assist clients to manage disputes and their impact at all stages. As part of this, she has expertise in using automation tools to increase efficiencies and improve processes and reporting.

Sarah has acted on numerous high profile IT, commercial and IP cases in the English High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. She acted for the successful parties in the following:  

  •  De Beers UK Ltd v Atos Origin IT Services UK Ltd [2010] EWHC 3276 (TCC)  
  •  Blue v Ashley [2017] EWHC 1928 (Comm)  
  •  Kabab-ji SAL (Lebanon) v Kout Food Group (Kuwait) [2020] EWCA Civ 6 and [2021] UKSC 48 

Examples of Sarah’s recent work include:  

  • Acting for DBS in Tata Consultancy Services Ltd v Disclosure and Barring Service [2024] EWHC 1185 (TCC) (one of the Lawyer’s top 20 cases of 2023) in relation to a +£200m dispute with its IT supplier arising out of delays and other issues with an IT modernisation programme.  
  • Advising a major life sciences business on a US$12m contractual dispute concerning a Global Software Licence and Support Services Agreement. 
  • Advising a telecoms company on a £4m contractual dispute with a supplier relating to termination and breach of contract. 
  • Assisting a software development company in respect of numerous ongoing multi-million pound global licensing disputes, including coordination of forensic accountants and lawyers in other jurisdictions. 
  • Leading on multi-claim arbitrations for a telecommunications business (total value: £1m).
