Sophie is an associate in the commercial IP, IT and data protection group at Bristows.
She advises clients on a variety of matters relating to digital transformation outsourcing, cloud, SaaS, software licensing and development, and matters involving the creation and exploitation of IP. She advises clients in a range of industry sectors, including life sciences, technology, media, energy and financial services.
In addition, Sophie advises on a range of cross-border data protection and privacy matters for UK and multinational clients, with particular experience in the launch of data-driven technology products and services.
Sophie has spent a significant part of her career working as part of in-house legal teams. In 2019, Sophie spent three months on secondment in the legal department of a multinational pharmaceutical company, gaining experience of the commercial issues facing businesses operating in the life sciences sector. She also spent six months on secondment in the legal team of a large US-based social media company in 2021.
Recently, Sophie played a key role in two strategic transformational projects for a European pharmaceutical company, drafting and negotiating a suite of contractual documentation relating to a business process outsourcing of the client’s HR and IT functions and the complex transformation of its research and development function.
