Utilising her background in biochemistry, Florence has worked on a variety of UK patent infringement and invalidity proceedings across the life sciences sector for both originators and generics. These cases have pertained to an array of pharmaceutical products including antibodies, small molecules and non-biological complex drugs.
Florence also has experience assisting clients with patent proceedings outside of the life sciences sector, having worked on infringement and invalidity proceedings in relation to standard essential patents, engineering and sport technology.
Florence has gained vast experience coordinating patent infringement and invalidity proceedings across multiple jurisdictions within Europe, Asia and Central and South America, providing strategic advice to clients and forming strong relationships with local counsel. She has experience advising originators on how best to maintain exclusivity and has assisted generics in navigating the patent landscape to bring products to market.
As an Authorised Representative before the UPC, Florence regularly advises clients on strategy in relation to potential enforcement of patents in the UPC, and has formed part of teams at Bristows working as sole counsel on various actions proceeding before the UPC.
In addition to her work on patent litigation matters, Florence has experience advising clients in relation to copyright, trade marks and design rights. She advises clients on the most appropriate way to utilise and protect these rights and assists in enforcement actions related to these rights.
Some of Florence’s recent work includes:
- Assisting an international pharmaceutical company with global coordination of disputes relating to a suite of patents protecting a blockbuster drug.
- Acting for a multinational electronics corporation in FRAND proceedings before the UK High Court.
- Running an extensive anti-lookalike enforcement programme for several well-known luxury goods companies.
- Acting as part of a team at Bristows as sole counsel on infringement and invalidity proceedings before the UPC relating to a waste management patent.
- Assisting a client in successfully defending a patent entitlement dispute in the IPEC relating to a patent for the manufacture of biodiesel.
During her training contract, Florence gained experience in other practice areas at Bristows with an IP focus including brands, designs & copyright and commercial IP/IT & data protection.
Florence has also been on secondment to Capgemini, a global consulting and technology services company, and Trevisan & Cuonzo, a boutique IP firm based in Milan.
Florence is an active member of IPSoc and ChIPs.
