Theresa’s experience encompasses all aspects of trade mark matters relating to UK, International, and European Union Trade Marks. She assists clients in devising global filing strategies and appropriate specifications, overcoming registry objections and absolute/relative grounds refusals, and defending, prosecuting, and settling oppositions and revocation actions. This includes drafting and negotiating terms of co-existence and settlement agreements. Theresa also has experience in representing clients at hearings and case management conferences before the UKIPO.

Theresa can assist with brand clearance and availability searches, transactional matters such as intellectual property due diligence, and drafting assignments. She provides general trade mark portfolio review advice and management strategy for large high-profile multinational companies.

Theresa advises a range of clients in diverse industry sectors, including technology, media and entertainment, retail and consumer goods, and financial services. Her work highlights include:

  • Leading the defense against 200 simultaneous revocation actions filed in the EU and UK for a single client, resulting in a new legal precedent and the largest cost award issued at the time for abuse of process by the UKIPO.
  • Handling the international filing programme and contentious registry proceedings for a major multinational media and entertainment conglomerate.
  • Managing the global trade mark and design portfolio for a world-renowned broadcasting corporation, overseeing more than 2,500 individual marks and designs.
  • Assisting a global consumer goods company with product packaging advice and design availability searches.
  • Conducting a comprehensive rebrand process from end-to-end for a growing start-up, including the development of a tailored filing strategy.

Theresa is an active member of INTA. She was recently a Project Leader for the INTA Indigenous Rights Committee and is currently serving on INTA’s Geographical Indications Committee. In December 2025 Theresa was selected for INTA’s Recognition of the ‘High-Performing Committee Members Program’ which acknowledges and highlights the contributions of outstanding committee members who have significantly advanced committee work.
