Associate – Patent litigation
Melissa is an associate in the patent litigation team, where she advises on matters in both the life sciences and technology sectors.
Some of Melissa’s case highlights include:
- Sandoz, Teva & others v Bayer – a multi-party dispute challenging the validity of Bayer’s patent protection for the dosing regimen of rivaroxaban (Xarelto®), including assisting with numerous preliminary injunction applications, a hearing before the Court of Appeal, and the cross-border coordination of the proceedings in over 20 jurisdictions.
- Celltrion v Genentech & Novartis – litigation in the High Court concerning the patent protection for the formulation of omalizumab (Xolair®).
- Scientific Drilling v Gyrodata & Schlumberger – a revocation claim in the High Court challenging the patent protection for methods of measuring tortuosity in oil well boreholes.
During her training contract at Bristows, Melissa gained experience in advisory and transactional IP, completing seats in both Life Sciences Regulatory and Commercial IP. She was also seconded to Google’s International Litigation team.
