Max is a commercial disputes lawyer with experience advising clients at all stages of a dispute.

Max has experience in a wide range of commercial disputes and professional negligence claims, often with multi-jurisdictional aspects, across a wide range of industries (including IT, life sciences, and aerospace) in proceedings before the High Court, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court in England and Wales. He has particular experience advising clients at a pre-action stage with a view to resolving disputes without the need to commence formal proceedings.

Recent experience

  • Acting for a UK public body in a +£200 million High Court action arising from an IT outsourcing / transformation project. Max was particularly focussed on defending claims made due to delays to the project. The case went to trial in October 2023.
  • Acting for a pharmaceutical manufacturer in a dispute with a licensor of intellectual property rights regarding the alleged expiry of the licence agreement and consequent validity of the licensor’s claim for unpaid license fees of $1,500,000.
  • Advising a German bank on the potential enforcement of a €20 million German judgment. obtained against a Greek individual over substantial property and other assets of the judgment debtor in the England held via Liberian and Panamanian registered entities.
  • Acting for a healthcare insurance company in a professional negligence claim against the client’s former solicitors. The claim was successfully settled for a substantial sum before proceedings were commenced.
