Laura advises UK and international clients on general and complex commercial litigation and dispute resolution. She represents individuals and companies in a wide range of matters, including international and cross-border commercial contracts disputes, trusts disputes, fraud claims, competition disputes, directors’ duties disputes and contentious insolvency. Laura has experience representing both claimants and defendants in relation to pre-litigation strategy and in large-scale commercial litigation before the English High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. Laura has also represented individuals and companies during investigations and/or prosecutions by regulatory bodies in the UK and farther afield.

Some of Laura’s work highlights include:

  • Acted for a multi-national investment company in relation to a high-value commercial dispute before the English High Court relating to claims under the Insolvency Act, including alleged transactions defrauding creditors.
  • Acted for a Japanese listed company and its European subsidiaries in relation to large commercial disputes (involving licensing, distributorship, intellectual property and competition law issues) in Italy and Germany and a European Commission investigation into potential anti-competitive practices.
  • Acted for an international automotive company in relation to claims before the English High Court and Court of Appeal alleging unlawful means conspiracy, breach of fiduciary duties and challenging a settlement agreement.
  • Acted for a multi-national aviation company relating to commercial contract disputes before the English High Court, as both the claimant and the defendant, involving strategic case assessment, pre-action correspondence, settlement discussions and disclosure issues.
  • Acted for a German manufacturing company with respect to a contractual dispute with a long-term supplier.
  • Acted for a large multi-national oil rigging company with respect to its Chapter 11 / English restructuring and advised its unsecured creditors committee about the actions of the board prior to insolvency.
  • Acted for an English company seeking to enforce obligations under a share purchase agreement.
  • Acted for a Canadian-based technology company with respect to a commercial dispute with a reseller.
  • Acted for a US listed gaming corporation in relation to an anti-trust/competition law investigation by the US Federal Trade Commission.
  • Acted for a multi-national investment company with respect to its proposed acquisition of a competitor which was being investigated by multiple competition regulators around the world.
  • Acted for a Japanese technology company with respect to civil claims in England for follow-on damages following a European Commission judgment.
  • Acted for a multi-national consultancy company in relation to an anti-corruption investigation in the Middle East with multi-jurisdictional issues involving authorities in a number of countries, including the US Department of Justice.
  • Acted for an individual in a US Department of Justice and French Anticorruption Agency investigation into potentially corrupt practices in the Middle East involving sovereign wealth funds and a Western bank.
  • Acted for a large multi-national corporation with respect to its compliance integration programme following its acquisition of various new businesses in Europe, Asia and America.
