Amy Howlett

Associate – Patent litigation

Amy qualified into the patent litigation team in 2024 after completing her training contract at Bristows. She has worked on High Court disputes including a technical trial for an SEP and FRAND litigation. Amy has also worked on a pharmaceutical coordination project. She has recently been seconded to leading biotechnology company in its dispute resolution team.

Amy regularly writes updates for the Bristows’ Irides newsletter, FRAND tracker, EPLAW and CIPA.

Some of Amy’s work highlights include:

  • Philips v OPPO – representing Philips in a Patents court litigation on the validity, infringement and essentiality of a telecommunications SEP in FRAND proceedings.
  • Panasonic v Xiaomi and OPPO – representing Panasonic in FRAND proceedings focusing on confidentiality, patent infringement and licensing.

She has experience in both the Competition and Brands teams during her training contract and has assisted in litigations in the High Court, Intellectual Property Enterprise Court and an Intellectual Property Office appeal to the appointed person. Prior to joining the firm, she worked for a charity promoting the use and adoption of open-source technology.
