Jake Palmer

Trainee Solicitor

It was only after taking a law module at university that I began to seriously consider a career in law. After researching the profession, it became clear that I would not be leaving the world of business behind; instead, I would get the opportunity to work with interesting businesses from many sectors.

Narrowing down the number of law firms in a logical way can seem a daunting task. For me it came down to three main considerations: practice areas and sectors; firm culture; and reputation – particularly in relation to training. This approach led me to Bristows.

Firstly, IP and TMT necessarily means you are working in ground-breaking areas both in the law and technology; while Bristows’ innovative and well-known clients provide exciting and varied work.

Secondly, Bristows has a reputation for providing a friendly and supportive working environment. This has been evident from the interview process right through to induction and starting work; people have genuinely wanted to get to know me and support my development.

Finally, as a leader in IP you really do get to work with some of the best lawyers in the country. This, combined with the firm’s interest in your training, provides an excellent start to your legal career.
