I have always been fascinated by the fast-paced nature of the science and technology sectors, but whilst studying Biology at university I realised that pursuing a career in research would mean narrowing down my interests to one particular field. After researching other careers, I found that intellectual property law best combined my interest in science with varied and dynamic commercial work. I soon became aware that Bristows is a top-tier IP firm with star-quality clients, so I applied for a training contract. The application process was very straightforward, with everyone involved going the extra mile to make you feel as comfortable as possible.

Working at Bristows, every day is different and exciting. Everyone is really friendly and keen for you to get involved straightaway. Before starting your training contract you are invited to firm-wide events, so that you can get to know your future colleagues before you start. The other trainees even organised drinks with us, so that we had people we knew to welcome us in on our first day. It is now two weeks into my training contract, and I have already attended meetings with expert witnesses, undertaken legal research and attended a talk on the firm’s work in the Life Sciences sector. I’m looking forward to see what the rest of my training contract will bring.
