About us - Corporate social responsibility - Charity

Cancer Research UK and Action Aid were elected by staff as the Bristows charities for this financial year.  Bristows is working with each charity to raise funds and promote their activities.  Details of these very worthy causes can be found at www.cancerresearchuk.org and www.actionaid.org.uk

Cancer Research UK is the UK's leading charity dedicated to cancer research.  It raises funds to carry out research on cancer and its treatment.  It also raises awareness and understanding of cancer and how the risk of cancer can be reduced.

ActionAid reaches over 19 million of the world's poorest people in Africa, Asia and Latin America and provides people with clean water, food, security, education and healthcare.  ActionAid's work is prioritised in the areas of education, HIV & AIDS, food, emergencies and women's rights.

To mark the beginning of the fundraising year:

  • The proceeds from a sale of replaced PCs to Bristows employees have been donated to Action Aid and Cancer Research UK.
  • Employees from all departments and support services ran in the Cancer Research UK Race for Life on 7 May in Battersea Park and raised £2,500.
  • Further charity fundraising events for staff are organised throughout the year, including dress-down days, raffles and competitions.

Bristows continues its tradition of donating replaced editions of its text books to The Statute Law Revision Society, which sends the books for use in Africa, India and other underdeveloped countries.

Bristows also promotes other charitable activities undertaken by employees, either on an individual or group basis, through the Firm or as a personal initiative.  This year, employees have raised money for several charities by running the London Marathon, holding a handbag auction and taking part in other charitable initiatives.
