Claire specialises in intellectual property with an emphasis on patent litigation in the life sciences sector. Her background in Chemistry gives her a valuable understanding of the technical issues that can underlie intellectual property matters.
Claire has assisted in patent litigation proceedings before the English High Court and Court of Appeal, including the recently reported cases of Servier v Apotex (revocation, infringement and damages enquiry proceedings), Actavis v Novartis (revocation and infringement proceedings) and Kelly v GE Healthcare (the first ever successful claim by employee inventors under the Patents Act 1977). Claire also has experience working on life-cycle management projects which require the co-ordination of parallel proceedings in different jurisdictions.
Claire contributes regularly to the monthly EPO reports which Bristows produces for the CIPA Journal. She also sits on the Committee of IPSoc, the society for junior IP practitioners, and is currently serving on the committee as Publicity Secretary.
